Abstract:Objective: To investigate the status of social anxiety and coping styles of undergraduates in a medical college,and to provide basis for making corresponding intervention measures.Methods: A total of 1 630 medical undergraduates were selected.Interaction Anxiousness Scale(IAS)was used to psychological evaluation and Simplified Coping Style Questionnaire(SCSQ)was used to assess the coping style.The correlation between social anxiety and coping styles was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis.Results: The overall score of social anxiety was(46.29±5.39),positive coping factor score was(1.96±0.59)and negative coping factor score was(1.13±0.24).There were differences in gender,grade and major(P<0.05).There was a significant positive correlation between negative coping style and social anxiety(r=0.401,P<0.05),while there was a significant negative correlation between positive coping style and social anxiety(r=-0.326,P<0.05).Conclusions: The undergraduates in a medical college have a high level of social anxiety.Cultivating students' positive coping styles and reducing negative coping styles will help medical students to reduce their anxiety level and promote their physical and mental health,which is the focus of the physical education in college and university.
